Collateral security instruments may include:
- Classic export credit insurance by export credit agencies (ECAs)
- Insurance against political risk (e.g. investment guarantees provided by the German government or supranational institutions such as MIGA as well as joint financings with the EIB)
- Individual off-shore structures with risk partners outside of the country of investment
