    We are expanding infrastructure

Modern infrastructure is necessary to meet the challenges of the coming decades – and modern, future-proof infrastructure requires private investment!

    Our achievements during 2023

KfW IPEX-Bank facilitates these investments because it feels right to us – after all, it is consistent with our business philosophy to plan for the long term and to ensure quality of life and prosperity on a sustainable basis.

    • Deutschlandnetz: At 1,000 locations with around 9,000 charging points across Germany, the Deutschlandnetz (“Germany Network”) will ensure a basic supply of HPC (high-power charging) rapid charging infrastructure for electric cars. A consortium consisting of KfW IPEX-Bank, Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW) and Siemens Financial Services is providing finance totalling around EUR 130 million to HOCHTIEF and EWE Go, which will construct 852 HPC points. With this financing, KfW IPEX-Bank is supporting the transition to CO2-neutral mobility.
    • FTTH for Poland: KfW IPEX-Bank is participating in a project to provide financing of EUR 1.1 billion to support the expansion of Poland’s fibre optic network. PŚO, a fibre-optic joint venture, plans to upgrade the existing coax network and convert it to fibre. The goal is to achieve an overall fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network coverage of over 6 million households.
    • Climate-positive data centre: EcoDataCenter aims to build a sustainable platform for data centres. KfW IPEX-Bank is supporting the Swedish company with a SEK 1.32 billion and EUR 59 million facility, which will be used to expand its site in Falun, north-west of Stockholm. The electricity consumed at this site comes entirely from CO2-neutral energy sources. Furthermore, the data centres are connected to a combined heat and power plant (CHP), which uses surplus energy to produce pellets. A state-of-the-art wooden construction and modular design allow fast and sustainable expansion at this site.

    Our plans for 2024

Building a successful future is only possible with modern infrastructure – we want to work with our clients to pave the way together. This is the only way for us to be in a position globally to structure the mobility sector in a more sustainable manner, transport products and goods using climate-friendly means and tap opportunities for digitalisation. In future, our focus will be on financing fibre optic and mobile networks, cutting-edge data centres, transport and charging infrastructure, and projects to expand the electricity, hydrogen network and district heating infrastructure.
