The application should be uploaded to our online portal. This is where we take great care to check all your information and documents. Of course, all personal data is collected securely and in accordance with the current provisions of the EU GDPR and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) – and deleted again at the end of the process. For the same reasons, we are unfortunately unable to accept applications by email.

If there is no suitable position, it is possible to create what is known as a job subscription. Since KfW IPEX-Bank operates worldwide, very good English skills in addition to German are essential in most departments (at least language level C1). Other foreign languages are welcome, but not mandatory.

Yes. We offer a variety of flexible working time models. In this way, we take into account the different needs of our employees and promote their work-life balance.

Yes. Mobile working is an integral part of our working culture. This means that all employees are technically equipped to work flexibly from home or on the go in Germany – currently up to 60% of their working hours per quarter. Within a certain framework, mobile working is also possible from abroad in Europe (“workation”). The specific agreement is always made in consultation with the supervisor. Our goal is to create an optimal working environment and take into account the different needs of our employees.

As part of our pension component system, we offer our employees a company pension that is fully financed by the employer. This can also be increased by means of gross deferred compensation. In addition to the payment of a retirement pension, the pension also includes a disability pension and a survivor’s pension.

KfW IPEX-Bank employees also have the option of making contributions to direct insurance through gross deferred compensation as well as capital distribution at a later date through deferred compensation.

Our workforce is well networked across the various departments. Yes. As a specialist in international project and export finance, KfW IPEX-Bank has numerous locations abroad.

At the Frankfurt location, we offer all-day care for children aged two months to three years. Until they finish primary school, children of our employees can also visit our own childcare centre. We work with external service providers for matters of employee support with a focus on reconciling work and private life.

The choice of trainee programme should primarily be based on your own interests and qualifications. Of course, perhaps several opportunities appear interesting. However, it is important for us to find out exactly why a specific programme suits the respective applicant and why we should work together in this particular department. Therefore a clear focus in the application increases the chances.

We base the allocation of internship and student trainee jobs on the needs of our specialist departments and the wishes of applicants for internships and student trainee jobs. Possible areas of application are the Mobility, Industry & Commerce, Energy and Infrastructure, as well as Credit Analysis, Risk Management, Communication and Compliance. An important prerequisite is professional competence. Candidates should have completed at least three semesters of study – e.g. in business administration, economics, economic mathematics, political science or a comparable economics or business-related course – that relates to an internship or student trainee position. In addition, we are interested in the personal characteristics and professional goals of the applicants.

Interns – voluntary or those who participate as part of the mandatory module in their studies – must be registered as full-time students at a state-recognised university, may not have taken the final exam yet or are in the gap year between the bachelor’s and master’s degrees. An internship during a semester off is only possible in exceptional cases and with justification from the university – e.g. if the internship falls in a semester in which a mandatory stay abroad is also scheduled.

Student trainees must be registered as full-time students at a state-recognised university and must not have taken the final exam yet. It is not possible to work during the holiday semester or in the gap year between the bachelor’s and master’s degree courses.

KfW IPEX-Bank generally does not specify fixed dates for the start of an internship or a student trainee position. If there is a request for specific dates, the application should reach us at least two to three months in advance. When scheduling specific dates, it should be noted that the student trainee or internship assignment can only take place during the course of study or between the bachelor’s and master’s phases (only internships are possible in these cases) and if the last exam has not yet been passed (e.g. submission of the thesis or completion of colloquium).

Whether an internship with us qualifies as a mandatory internship depends on the requirements of the course of study. Before we begin to conclude a contract, we therefore need confirmation from the university that the internship with us is recognised as a compulsory internship for the entire period in accordance with the applicable examination regulations. Exemption from the social security obligation can only be granted if it can be clearly established that the planned assignment is a compulsory internship. However, this exemption does not apply if the participants are granted academic leave for the duration of the internship.
