A trainee programme where I can take on responsibility early

“After studying business administration, I was looking for a trainee position. I came across KfW IPEX-Bank through a friend who told me about its diverse trainee programmes and positive corporate culture. After doing my own research, I was absolutely enthusiastic about KfW IPEX-Bank and its wide range of topics. I chose the Control Units trainee program, which focuses on the lines of defence. KfW IPEX-Bank has established the three-lines-of-defence model as a framework for an effective and holistic system for corporate risk management.

The starting point for my traineeship was the multi-day onboarding, during which the bank and the individual departments were introduced. This allowed me to get to know both the organisation and my new colleagues right from the start. I particularly appreciated the opportunity during the Welcome Days to look into other teams and exchange ideas with them. Even within my first department, I was thoroughly introduced to all topics and was able to ask questions at any time.

During my traineeship, I start with the first line of defence, which is responsible for the operational management of risks. Then I move on to the second line of defence, which is responsible for the overall and strategic management of risks. Finally, I gain insight into the third line of defence, which is responsible for the independent appraisal of the appropriateness and effectiveness of internal procedures and controls. After the three focus areas, I will also complete further rotations in the traditional credit process.

I decided on this trainee programme because I wanted to learn about the interaction between the individual lines of defence. This is about identifying risks, implementing controls and then checking whether they are effective. Therefore, my tasks include not only the appraisal of processes, but also their continuous active further development and improvement. I find it exciting to work in a dynamic international environment where I can not only think analytically, but also develop solutions.

Even as a graduate trainee, I was able to take on a wide range of tasks and was given the confidence to manage larger projects independently. This responsibility motivated me and made me feel part of KfW IPEX-Bank after a short time. I particularly enjoy the exchange with my colleagues, who not only support me professionally, but also personally. I appreciate the open communication, genuine helpfulness among each other and the team atmosphere that allows me to contribute my ideas.”

Let’s shape the future together. Now! If you have any questions about the trainee program, please contact Thomas Krick at +49 (0)69 7431 8454.
