KfW IPEX-Bank provides KfW promotional loan for public transport operator Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe

KfW IPEX-Bank, as the on-lending bank, is providing its customer Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe (KVB) with a promotional loan of EUR 50 million from KfW. As part of KfW Programme 268, ‘Investment Loan for Sustainable Mobility’, KVB is procuring 78 electric buses and investing in electric charging infrastructure, including the expansion of the power grid. A small part of the loan will also go to modernising the railway infrastructure.

“The decarbonisation of the transport sector in Germany is a major concern for us,” said Aida Welker, Member of the Management Board of KfW IPEX-Bank. “We are therefore particularly pleased to be able to make the KfW promotional loan available to the public transport operator Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe.”

Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe is a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Köln, the infrastructure and services company of the city of Cologne.
