KfW IPEX-Bank provides financing for Rheinbahn
KfW IPEX-Bank is providing Rheinbahn AG with a loan totalling EUR 100 million. The funds will be used by Rheinbahn to finance various investments in public transport infrastructure in Düsseldorf.
Düsseldorf is one of Germany's major growing cities, with a high density of commuters and heavy commercial traffic. An effective public transport system in the city is an essential lever for reducing motorised personal transport and local emissions, in particular CO₂, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter.
“We are delighted once again to be supporting our long-standing customer Rheinbahn,” states Aida Welker, Member of the Management Board of KfW IPEX-Bank. “Our financing for municipal transport operators is strengthening the transport transition in Germany.”
Annette Grabbe, a member of the Rheinbahn Executive Board, adds: “The loan from KfW IPEX-Bank gives us greater scope to make important investments in Düsseldorf’s public transport infrastructure. This will enable us to lay the foundations for further developing public transport and ensuring it is fit for the future.”
