Uflex Polen

    Mechanical engineering

Our clients are companies that manufacture and assemble a broad range of machines and plants. The German flagship sector with its predominantly medium-sized corporate structure employed just under a million people in 2012, more than any other industrial sector in Germany. The companies in this traditional sector are characterised by a high level of internationalisation, which we support worldwide by financing investments and exports.

Financing case Uflex: Europe's largest film production plant

One example of how KfW IPEX-Bank supports German exports is the financing of the expansion project of the Indian film manufacturer Uflex Ltd. The company set up its first European production plant in Września, Poland, around 60 km from Poznań, and has equipped it with machinery from German manufacturers. KfW IPEX-Bank is contributing to the EUR 80 million total investment volume with a loan of EUR 30 million.

30,000 tonnes of food-grade film per year

At the heart of the new plant is a BoPET (biaxially orientated polyethylene terephthalate) film production line. It is the fastest and only fully automated plant in Europe with a film web width of 8.7 metres. Since July 2012 the plant has produced films for the food industry in Northern and Central Europe. With a capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year, it is one of the highest-performance film plants in the world.

    German machines and plants

The equipment comes from several medium-sized exporters in Germany. Brückner Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG in Siegsdorf (Bavaria) supplied the main system: the complete BoPET production line. Wrapping and cutting machines came from Kampf Schneid- und Wickeltechnik GmbH & Co. KG in Wiehl (North Rhine-Westphalia). Applied Materials GmbH & Co. KG in Alzenau (Bavaria), a subsidiary of the US electronics company Applied Materials, supplied film-finishing machines to Poland.

Uflex serves its global sales market decentrally

The Indian conglomerate Uflex Group, one of the world's five biggest manufacturers of elastic packaging films, is a long-standing client of KfW IPEX-Bank. This is the third Uflex expansion project the bank has helped finance. By setting up modern production plants at strategic sites abroad, Uflex is pursuing its aim of serving its global sales market decentrally. The plant in Września is Uflex's first European production site. Other factories are located in India, Dubai, Egypt and Mexico.
