  • KfW IPEX-Bank takes leading role as Facility Agent and Export Credit Agency (ECA) Co-ordinator and Agent for the USD 1.5 billion Untied Loan (UFK) by the German ECA Euler Hermes
  • Financing supports the delivery of an aggregate volume of more than 150 TWh of natural gas from Trafigura to SEFE Securing Energy for Europe
  • First gas delivery scheduled for 1 November 2026

As part of a syndicate of nine banks, KfW IPEX-Bank takes a leading role as Facility Agent and Export Credit Agency (ECA) Co-ordinator and Agent, including a commitment of USD 300 million, in an Untied Loan Guarantee (UFK, through the German ECA Euler Hermes) backed financing of USD 1.5 billion for Trafigura.

The financing supports Trafigura’s agreement to supply more than 150 TWh of natural gas over the next five years to SEFE Securing Energy For Europe, to be delivered to Germany. Trafigura will primarily supply SEFE from its global gas portfolio. The first gas delivery is already scheduled for 1 November 2026.

The transaction is designed to help compensate for declining gas supplies and therefore contributes to security of supply and the resilience of Germany and Europe’s energy infrastructure.

“We are very glad to play a leading role in this financing for our longstanding client Trafigura, which plays a crucial role in delivering commodities to Germany and Europe,” said Dr Velibor Marjanovic, Member of the Managing Board of KfW IPEX-Bank. “The transaction demonstrates how targeted financing can strengthen critical supply chains and support the resilience of the German economy.”

Trafigura is a market leader in the global commodities industry, with activities spanning energy, metals and minerals, infrastructure and logistics.
