  • Quadrupling of existing wind farm capacity through repowering
  • Contribution to the energy transition through increased efficiency

KfW IPEX-Bank is contributing around EUR 110 million as one of the leading banks in a banking consortium for the expansion of wind energy in Germany. The total volume of financing for the German platform model NeXtWind amounts to approximately EUR 1.8 billion and is being provided in cooperation with Deutsche Bank, ING, LBBW and other banks. This is one of the largest wind energy financing projects in Germany to date.

The funds will be used to equip existing wind farms with more powerful turbines, thereby significantly increasing the total installed capacity in Germany – a process known as repowering. NeXtwind plans to use this approach to quadruple the capacity of more than half of its 37 wind farms in Germany by 2028 and further increase the total capacity of its wind farms to 3 GW.

“We are proud to contribute to this landmark portfolio financing, which sets new standards and enables the large-scale modernisation of Germany’s wind energy infrastructure,” said Dr. Velibor Marjanovic, Member of the Management Board of KfW IPEX-Bank. “It demonstrates our commitment to the transformation of the economy and society while strengthening Germany’s resilience and energy independence.”

“This investment is more than capital – it is a global vote of confidence in our platform model, which bridges international financial strength with local value creation. NeXtWind proves that Germany’s energy transition is both investable and scalable.”– Lars Meyer, Co-CEO NeXtWind
