    We are boosting the economy

Europe is dependent on global supply chains and shaped by the challenges they present. Many companies are investing large sums to strengthen their security of supply and resilience – and KfW IPEX-Bank is supporting them by providing financing and expertise, with the aim of growing the German and European economies on a sustainable basis.

    Our achievements during 2023

We finance investments of German and European companies both at home and abroad, contributing to job security and prosperity in Germany and Europe. At the same time, we strengthen Europe’s competitiveness in the global marketplace.

    • The global heating transition: KfW IPEX-Bank is providing heating technology provider Vaillant with financing of EUR 118 million for its research and development activities. The financing will be used to develop innovative heating systems, in particular climate-friendly heat pumps. The financing ties in with KfW IPEX-Bank’s mission as a transformation bank to help take forward-looking projects in the energy and heating transition to the next stage.
    • Steel production also needs to become more sustainable. That is why KfW IPEX-Bank is contributing financing of USD 150 million for a new state-of-the-art, energy-efficient rebar steel mill in Osceola, Arkansas. The mill is being built by Hybar, a scrap metal recycling and steel production company focused on environmentally friendly steel production. The facility will be used, among other things, to finance low-emission and energy-efficient technology, which is being supplied from Germany by the SMS Group. The mill has a very low CO2 footprint, cutting emissions by up to 50 per cent compared with other rebar steel mills. The mill will also be directly connected to a solar park, thus enabling 100% operation with renewable energy.

    Our plans for 2024

The world is changing – especially when it comes to global supply chains. As a partner for the German and European export economies, KfW IPEX-Bank will continue to support its customers over the coming years, enabling them to make vital investments in challenging times. Whether these relate to exports of highly specialised machines and machine components or the further diversification of European raw material supplies, we are forging ahead.
